Baby shampoo and carcinogens

So I was reading somewhere online that some baby shampoo, including Johnson and Johnson , our well known trusted brand for years is being sued along with walmart due to having some cancer causing chemical in it!

So I search out trying to find the specific ingredient so I can check all my shampoos at home and guess what? It's not actually an ingredient that they intentionally put in thats cancer causing but it's actually the way it's being manufactured that causes traces of the chemicals !

So not only did they find out a majority of Johnson and Johnson products suck, but probably any product that was manufactured on that line sucks! There are going to be investiations on target brand and I am guessing other brands after that.

For some reason the worst ones are the night time shampoos. So I have decided to make my shampoos at home with different herbs. Trusting exactly what I put into each bottle by hand with care and love for the children and even adults using them.

Just something to think about.

Public Health & Drinking Water Issues

Just a bit of information I read up on regarding the tap water supply in the United States.
First you should know the definition of Chromium-6 as follows :

Hexavalent chromium (chromium VI) refers to chemical compounds that contain the element chromium in the +6 oxidation state. Virtually all chromium ore is processed via hexavalent chromium, specifically the salt sodium dichromate. Approximately 136,000,000 kilograms (300,000,000 lb) of hexavalent chromium were produced in 1985.[1] Other hexavalent chromium compounds are chromium trioxide and various salts of chromate and dichromate. Hexavalent chromium is used for the production of stainless steel, textile dyes, wood preservation, leather tanning, and as anti-corrosion and conversion coatings as well as a variety of niche uses.
Hexavalent chromium is recognized as a human carcinogen via inhalation.[2] Workers in many different occupations are exposed to hexavalent chromium. Problematic exposure is known to occur among workers who handle chromate-containing products as well as those who arc weld stainless steel.[2] Within the European Union, the use of hexavalent chromium in electronic equipment is largely prohibited by the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive. (according to wiki)

carcinogen is any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer.
(again the first line of Wikipedia's definition)

So basically according to a report by EWG to the US Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works here it is:

The safety of our drinking water in the US is under constant stress.
Among the major problems:

Infrastructure is crumbling and decaying
Programs to protect source water lack funding
Utilities often can't afford to test and treat water
Some disinfectants used to treat water actually break down into toxic substances
The EPA has not established drinking water standards for so called "unregulated contaminants"  harmful chemicals such as industrial pollutant hexavalent chromium, the rocket fuel component perchlorate and the perflourinated chemicals PFOA and PFOS, active ingredients in stain removers and carpet cleaners.

So here is the report about Chromium-6

35 cities were tested and 31 of these had "Cancer Causing Chromium 6" show up in the water you trust and drink!

The Federal National Toxicology Program has concluded from animal testing that the pollutant shows "clear evidence of carcinogenic activity"
On December 31st , 11 days after this report was released, California lowered its chromium-6 public health goal from 0.06 to 0.02 parts per billion (ppb). The EWG's readings in all 31 cities were higher than California's new proposed safe limit.

Here are the results from the test:

Riverside, CA - 1.69 ppb
San Jose, CA - 1.34 ppb
Los Angeles, CA - 0.20 ppb (now i have family here and if you fill a cup with tap water it literally comes out cloudy gray)
Sacramento, CA - 0.16 ppb
Omaha, NE - 1.07 ppb
Albuquerque, NM - 1.04 ppb
Bend, OR - 0.78 ppb
Bethesda, MD - 0.19 ppb
Syracuse, NY - 0.12 ppb
Buffalo, NY - 0.07 ppb

and the highest level was detected in Norman, OK at a whopping 12.9 ppb!!!!!
(wow sad thing I have family in Oklahoma and honestly February 16th, 2011 I just got a call a distant relative battling cancer passed away in Oklahoma, thats so awful that no one can tell me it had nothing to do with the drinking water.)

The difference

When I was a kid there was a news story that some man had left poisoned candies all over
The playground. People were warned and didn't want to take their kids out to play. Nothing I more important than your Childs safety. You would do anything to protect your children right? My oldest brought home from school Carmel popcorn homemade by one of her classmates grandmas and I am afraid to let her eat it. Corn like popped corn is gmo (genetically modified) and if that is known to cause cancer then what kind of mother would I be? What's the difference between giving my kid cancer causing gmo foods and letting her eat a piece of poisoned candy on the ground. It angers me that we can't just safely go to the grocery store and purchase foods that won't have a negative long term affect! We are being treated like animals an boy that's another subject but we are slowly being killed off so some s.o.b. Can make a quicker buck. It's not right. We can't stand for this. Information on products to come.
